Sadly, a great new À LOUER installation by UMA is to be short lived. So hurry over to St.Laurent this week-end to view the multiple identities of artist J.J.LEVINE In her photographs, she stages the same models dressed differently. New UMA installation: À LOUER: Alain Lefort

RUN. Don’t walk, to see the latest À LOUER, the brainchild of photographer, artist, visionary André Cornellier.  What is it you ask? In For Rent (ie: À Louer) windows throughout the City of Montréal, André installs fabulous photographs. This serves two purposes: one – it beautifies an often sad, and dusty locale, and two – the most important – it showcases young, upcoming, and very talented Montreal artists. À LOUER. Must-sees in a window near you.

UMA, La Maison de l’image et de la photographie, had – and has – a great idea, riffing on the ‘À Louer’ signs you see around town – possibly more to come after yesterday, but I digress. Founder and director of UMA, André Cornellier puts art in those spaces.  He goes in with his team, cleans the windows (no charge to the retailer..how great is that?), then installs large scale photographs of emerging artists – at no cost to them. His projects are supported by the local arrondissments, pleased to see the beautifications of their area. Continue reading
